Tony Elliott Post Game
By Makenna Biehl
Going into this past weekend’s game against Boston College, Clemson fans wondered what the Tigers offense would look like without starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Offensive coordinator Tony Elliott explained that the loss of Lawrence didn’t change a lot for the game plan; it just meant that DJ Uiagalelei would be stepping up into the quarterback position.
Elliott said that Uiagalelei played like they expected him to. Explaining that he has a quiet confidence, and he takes each week as if he were going to be starting. He went into more detail describing how Uiagalelei has “a heart of a champion” to go out into Death Valley and make the comeback that he did. Uiagalelei will be keeping up the hard work at the starting quarterback position this upcoming Saturday against Notre Dame.
Elliott revealed that Head Coach Dabo Swinney challenged Cornell Powell this week to help him step up and play to his full potential. Explaining how Powell had some tough coaching this week to help get some consistency from the senior wide receiver.
The Clemson offense was able to find another achievement in senior running back Travis Etienne, who broke the all-time ACC rushing record. Elliott explained how it was special, and he got to see Etienne put everything together against Boston College. Going into further detail, saying how he played one of his better games with the exception of his fumble.
The Clemson Tigers offense is now preparing to face off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this Saturday at 7:30 PM.
