WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Clemson women’s tennis team finished up competition at the Carolina ITA Regionals on Sunday. Overall, two of Tigers’ doubles pairs made the quarterfinals of their Main Draw, while Jenna Thompson took home the crown for the singles Main Draw consolation bracket.

Thompson’s 6-1 weekend was wrapped up with a 6-3, 7-6 (6) victory over UNC’s Ruxi Schech to clinch the consolation bracket title. Alexandra Anttila made it to the semifinal match of the B Draw before falling 6-2, 7-5 to South Carolina’s Chloe Narboni.

The doubles pair of Eleni Louka and Ali DeSpain reached the quarterfinals of the Main Draw, along with the team of Cristina Mayorova and Daniella Medvedeva.

“The girls played a ton of matches this weekend and fought hard against some tough competition,” said Head Coach Christy Lynch. “Our region is strong and every match is tough. We learned a ton and will continue to grow from these matches. Jenna did a phenomenal job in her first singles tournament back. To go 6-1 is a huge accomplishment. I was proud of the team and we’re just excited to get back to work next week.”

The Tigers next competition is the UNF Invitational from Nov. 12-14 in Jacksonville, Fla. For all the most up-to-date coverage regarding Clemson Women’s Tennis, please visit ClemsonTigers.com and follow @ClemsonWTennis on Twitter and Instagram.
