Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables communicates during the fourth quarter of the game with The Citadel Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020 at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, S.C.

Defensive Coordinator Brent Venables met with the media via Zoom for his weekly press conference from his office inside of the Allen N. Reeves Football Facility on Monday afternoon. The ninth-year coach previewed the Tigers upcoming game on Saturday against the Virginia Cavaliers and also gave an injury report for some of his biggest players on the defensive side of the ball.

Venables announced that sophomore Tyler Davis, junior Mario Goodrich and junior Derion Kendrick will all be dressed and ready to play for Clemson against the 2019 ACC Coastal Division Champions from last year.

Venables also previewed the upcoming game inside of Death Valley stating that: “Virginia is a good team and program. They made it to the ACC Championship Game last year and Bronco Mendenhal is building a program the right way.”

Coach V also took some time to speak on where he thinks his defense is at right now and where they can improve on moving forward. Venables also sung some high praises for his leader on the defense, James Skalski.

Clemson’s defense will look to improve off the Tigers’ first shutout since shutting out the Ohio State Buckeyes in the 2016 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl against the Cavs this weekend. The game is set to kickoff at 8 pm on ACC Network.
