Tigers Prevail in 100th All-Time Meeting With Furman

Clemson, S.C. — In the 100th all-time meeting between the Tigers (7-9, 1-6 ACC) and Paladins (5-8, 2-0 SoCon), Clemson earned a 5-2 victory to improve to 81-18-1 in the series.

The Tigers secured the doubles point as Teodor Giusca and Yizhou Liu won 6-1 on at line two. At No. 3 Carlos Kelaidis and Jorge Plans Gonzalez clinched the point with a 6-2 victory.

In singles, Clemson took three straight matches to pick up the win. At line five, Spencer Whitaker notched the first singles victory of the day, 6-3, 6-1. Jorge Plans Gonzalez followed closely behind, blanking his opponent on Court 4 to earn his fifth-consecutive victory. Then Andrew Puscas sealed the Clemson win, taking line six, 6-3, 6-2 to win his first match as a Tiger. Additionally, at No. 3, Ryuhei Azuma fought back to force an extra set after losing the first frame, 5-7, and ultimately earned the decision, 5-7, 7-5, 10-4.
