9/30/18 Dabo Teleconference RECAP.
Dabo Swinney held his weekly Sunday teleconference this evening and we were on the call and have the liner notes to share with you. Of course at the top of all the gathered media’s combined minds was the status of Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Swinney as he always does started the call with his opening remarks.
Dabo opened the call discussing Saturdays win and commented “Unbelievable will to win …..with a ton of adversity……… really proud of our team…… one for the ages “ Adding that the Game with Syracuse (4-1) was a “Very tough physical game”. On how his team responded to the adversity of losing their starting quarterback and how the game played out Dabo mentioned “Down ten in the fourth quarter a lot of teams would fold up tent” he said how it was “Awesome to see the team come together:”
On areas of improvement moving forward Swinney commented that “attention to details… turnovers and critical penalties” all needed to be addressed by the staff and players in the upcoming week. Speaking about the ninety-four yard game-winning drive led by Chase Brice the Clemson head coach replied “One Best drives I have ever been a part of “ but again mentioned that the staff and team have “ A lot of things we can clean up “ Area he mentioned specifically was pass defense and how they need to work on “Technique in our coverage”
On the Defense in the second half and how they managed to hold the Orange to less than 90 yards “They could not run the ball” And how “Holding them to a couple of field goals in red zone gave us a chance in the fourth”. On how his team reacted and responded today… “Leadership was tremendous”…”really proud of our team for stepping up”
And back to the main topic of the call Lawrence and his injured team ted Tremayne Anchrum and Trayvon Mullen. Swinney stated “Very optimistic we will get them all back” When speaking on Lawrence specifically Dabo said “All that stuff is with Danny (Danny Poole Head Trainer) and those folks. Anytime you get anything with the head and neck area. (Trevor) was really good after the game and felt good this morning….. Hopeful they put him back in practice. Very encouraging what they said this evening.”
