As I find out, Ill be posting who is attending the spring game. My best memory of the spring game was actually two years ago. As my friends and I sat in the parking lot, tailgating under the view of the Oculus, the commitment of Xavier Thomas flew through the crowd like wildfire. Of course, everyone in the middle of the state thought for sure it was going to USC for Thomas. But he chose the Tigers.
This year Clemson expects some of the Nation’s top players to make the trek to Pickens County and take in this years version of the “Orange & White” game.
Some of the Top Recruits we have confirmed in attendance are as follows:
5-star QB DJ Uiagalelei, 6-4 240 from California
5-star DE Bryan Bresee, 6-5 290 from Pennsylvania
5-star TE Arik Gilbert, 6-5 253 from Georgia
4-star CB Fred Davis, 6-1 182 from Florida
4-star CB Malcolm Greene, 5-10 180 from Virginia
3-star TE Diego LaMonica, 6-4 226 from Florida
Obviously, fans are coming to watching the spring game, see the “new kids on the block”, how they perform, and of course, they want to see Trevor Lawrence, Tee Higgins, Justyn Ross, Travis Etienne, and the list goes on and on. However, a LOT of attention is drawn to how well Coach Brent Venables reloads the defense after losing 7 starters. The “new kids on the block” I referred to will be on full display early as returning DTs Jordan Williams and Nyles Pinckney are sidelined with minor injuries. Guys like Ty Davis, Cash Logan, Etinosa Rueben, Ruke Orhorhoro (say that fast 5 times), Darnell Jefferies, Xavier Kelly and so on and so on. More of the “new kids” will not be showing up till June, including one of the most celebrated ones in 5-star CB Andrew Booth. The list of new players goes on and on and on. Keep an eye on Joe Ngata and Frank Ladson. These guys are scary good already.
For a lot of Clemson Fans, a highlight of the spring game is watching the recruits come down the aisle and take their seats in the corner of the endzone closest to the Oculus and the Clemson dressing room entrance. I first saw Trevor Lawrence and Xavier Thomas walking down that aisle. If you get the chance, position yourself on that side of the field if you want to get a few closeups. two in particular that have the potential of making “early waves” are DJ Uiagalelei and Bryan Bresee. They should be the easiest to spot. These two “kids” are HUGE. They have offers from all over the power five conferences. Uiagalelei is ranked the #1 QB in the nation, 6th overall and Bresee is ranked #1 overall in the nation. The two top tier players have been tweeting back and forth about seeing each other at the spring game. Fireworks? Commitments? Only time will tell.
