Dabo Swinney Speaks on Tigers 52-17 Senior Day Win
By Zach Wagner
Coach Swinney conducted his press conference from inside of Death Valley following the Clemson Tigers 52-17 win over the Pitt Panthers. Swinney stated that he was very pleased with the team’s effort and that he and his team were just excited to get out there and play some football after not playing the prior two weekends.

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw for 403 yards on the day, five weeks removed from playing his last game after testing positive for COVID. Swinney was happy with the way his junior quarterback played stated that it’s the first time in 125 years of Clemson Football that the team has had someone throw for 400+ yards in back-to-back games. D.J. Uiagalelei threw for over 430 yards in Clemson’s double-overtime loss to #2 Notre Dame the first week of November.
Swinney: "It was good to get Trevor back. He played great. First time in 125 years of football we've had back-to-back 400 yards passing, and we did it with two different quarterbacks."#ClemsonSportsNews

When it came to his defense, Swinney was impressed with the fast start the Tigers got. Clemson picked off the Pitt quarterback, Kenny Pickens, three times in the first quarter and four times overall in the game. The defense had six different players register a sack in the win, and four different players had a takeaway.
Swinney: "We had six different guys with sacks and five takeaways."#ClemsonSportsNews

Swinney ended his opening statement raving about two of his senior wide receivers. Cornell Powell (6 receptions, 176 yards, 1 TD) and Amari Rodgers (10 receptions, 93 yards) are both having coming out years and don’t be surprised if both have their names called in April in the NFL Draft.
Swinney: "Two seniors, Amari and Cornell, WOW what a year they're having. WOW."#ClemsonSportsNews
