Clemson vs Louisville ACC Tournament edition

on Thursday the Tigers took back to the field against the number one seed Louisville. Clemson and Louisville both have suffered losses to Boston College during pool A play. Boston College will be representing pool A in the semifinals on Saturday. Clemson, however, is fighting for a spot within the NCAA tournament.

Matt Clark took to the mound for the Tigers as their starting pitcher in hopes to turn the Tiger’s pitching woes around after giving up 4 home runs in his previous effort, a season-high for the Eagles.

Clemson would get on the board first, when a Kyle Wilkie double brought Bryce Teodosio and Michael Green across home plate for the Tigers to take an early 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning.

Clemson would continue to add to its lead, adding a three-run homer from Justin Hawkins that would extend the Tigers lead 5-0 in the top of the fourth. Clemson then padded their lead via a Jordan Greene RBI single that sent Logan Davidson to home plate, and extended the lead 6-0 with two outs in the fifth inning.

Kyle Wilkie would hit his fifth home run of the season in the seventh inning to put the Tigers up 7-0 with two outs

Louisville would get on the board in the 9th inning with a solo homerun

Matt Clark would exit the game to a standing ovation from the Clemson faithful. Clark was relieved by Jacob Hennessy after pitching eight stong innings, allowing one hit and one run.

Clemson would hold on to beat Louisville 7-1 to finish 1-1 within ACC tournament play. The team now awaits their destiny to find out whether or not they have made it through to the NCAA tournament.
