Clemson Fans Given the Option to “Redshirt”
By Makenna Biehl

As the Clemson football season is starting up in just 25 days, fans have been wondering what it will look like for themselves this fall. Most want to be able to sit in Death Valley to watch the Tigers after spending the day tailgating. However, the university wanted to make an option for the fans that aren’t comfortable attending games this fall. Clemson Athletics released information and said, “This season has inserted new variables into the decision-making process, both from a health and financial perspective. You are in control if you wish to “redshirt” this season.”
Fans must notify the Athletic Department by August 21st if they wish to “redshirt” the 2020 season. “Redshirting” will redirect your ticket commitment to IPTAY as a contribution, defer your ticket commitment to 2021, or result in a request for a full ticket refund.

Clemson Athletics is working with public health officials to determine maximum capacity for the stadium, and new ticket assignments will be given out after the August 21st “redshirt” deadline. Tailgating has also been prioritized, and different models are being made to see what the parking situation for fans will look like. The last significant change is that all ticketing will be mobile to ensure that contact is limited between fans and staff. The Clemson Athletic Department will be releasing further information in the coming weeks and hopes to have a safe season for both players and fans.
