The Clemson Tigers are in a position this year they haven’t been in in a long, long time. The Tigers do not control their own destiny. Instead, Boston College and UNC needs to win some big games in order for Clemson to make the ACC Championship game.
There is still a path for Clemson to make it to the Championship game, but it will have to go something like this.
Clemson must win out. The Tigers beat a determined Louisville team last night, and must beat Wake Forest in a home game in the valley in two weeks.
Wake Forest has three conference games remaining. They play NC State at home, and then must travel to Clemson and Boston College. Note of interest, BC starting quarterback Phil Jurkovec is back, and led them to a win over Virginia Tech Friday night. The Demon Deacons are unbeaten so far in conference play and needs to lose at least two of the three games
NC State currently has one loss in ACC play and has a tough schedule the rest of the season. The Wolfpack plays at Wake Forest, then has home games against Syracuse and North Carolina. State needs to lose at least two of these games for the Tigers to remain in the hunt.
Bottom line, Clemson needs help from a few teams to make it back to the ACC Championship game. BC and UNC, if you could kindly win a few games the last third of the season, Dabo Swinney would surely appreciate it.
There is a path.
